Neighborhoods

Santa Fe’s neighborhoods are as rich and individual as the city itself. Pueblo Revival Style is dominant, due to a 1957 Historical Zoning Ordinance spurred by John Gaw Meem. Yet streetscape, vegetation, history and housing type make for many differences in neighborhood character. Roam the streets to find thick walled adobes set on dirt roads, hilllside manses with spreading views or charming brick bungalows nestled by Pueblo Decos and Victorians. In other parts of town, mid-century Pueblos with porches line broad streets, modern lofts and condo clusters are steps from restaurants and entertainment. There are numerous new developments defined by distinctive ambitions:  new urbanism, open space, affordability. Time and again, Santa Fe is cited as one of the best places to live or retire, the healthiest hometown, one of the top destinations for the arts. Check out our descriptions and reviews of below.
